The Jasper sweater has been on my to-make list for probably a year. I even went to my favorite local shop, F&M Fabrics, to buy the fleece and used my thread chart to order matching thread from wawak.com. It sat on my shelf all bundled up and ready to be made and probably got lonely up there as summer came and I set it aside for another season. When Lisa at Paprika Patterns emailed out that they would be re-releasing the pattern and they were looking for help getting the word out, it was just the push I needed. Deadlines are my friend!

The Jasper Sweater features princess seams with an in-seam tube pocket. The pocket is framed by single welts, but don’t let that scare you! There are thorough instructions in the pattern and additional help in a blog post linked up in the pattern instructions. All the pocket fabric is inside the sweater making for a clean, minimalist look from the outside and cozy warmth on the inside. However, if you’d rather have a traditional kangaroo pocket on the outside, the crossover collar add-on includes a pattern for that.

Speaking of collars, there are two options included in the pattern; a hood or a cowl, as shown. The cowl is self-faced so no need to worry about hemming it or finding a matching lining. If you’d prefer a crossover collar, this is available as an add-on as mentioned above, or grab the bundle for a small discount. You also have the option to add an epaulet or button decorations on whatever collar you choose.

The NEW size chart for the Jasper Sweater goes from size 1 – 16, that is a bust measurement from 31.5″ to 63″ and a hip measurement from 34″ to 64.5″. Click here to read about the other updates to the pattern.

Included in the pattern is a dress length, which could pass for secret pajamas in winter with some leggings – who doesn’t love that?

The fabrics that work best for this pattern are Sweatshirt fleece, jogging fabric, French terry & Cotton jersey for the pocket lining. If you’d like a preview of construction and options/hacks available, click here to see all the Jasper-related posts on the Paprika Patterns Blog.

At this time Paprika Patterns is also re-releasing two other patterns – The Coral Sweater & Dress and the Citrus Leggins. Read all about the updates here and grab the patterns to be well on your way to a cozy winter wardrobe!
